EDITOR: I disagree with Joanna
Louie's Feb. 25 letter about the Tomales High School mascot.
Mascots aren't usually animals. The Raiders, the 49ers,
the Vikings, and the Spartans are examples of mascots.
Teams pick mascots
they want to be like because of their qualities. You don't pick a mascot
to make fun of it. That would be like making fun of yourself. Teams are
proud of their mascots and what they stand for.
An Indian brave is a good mascot,
especially because Indians used to live around here.
